I live in Lakewood Ranch year round ...and I go out for breakfast every morning. I like the food here... But the service sucks! In particular, I don't like waiting over 30 minutes when half of the tables are empty. No reason for that. In fact, I asked the maitra d' if we could sit at the bar.... The answer was that I had to wait. Hummm, there are better choices: around the corner: First Watch, and The Broken Egg! Both are excellent choices without the wait. When the owner decides to hire a bus boy to clean the tables and reduce the line; then I'll be back. Until then, there are lots of choices! Here's a picture to prove my point.

Terrific breakfast choices. Surprisingly good eggs Benedict. Great service. My go to casual lunch bunk on Main Street.

IHOP? People still go there--if you do, clearly you haven't been to Station 400! My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing this awesome establishment earlier today and I am so glad we did. Neither of us felt like cooking breakfast so I hopped on Yelp to see what my fellow Yelpers thought was the best place to go for brunch and lo and behold stumbling across this place was a Certified Win Win!! We did have a 20 minute wait (& it was raining) which only added to my hunger pains but it was well worth the wait! I ordered a cappuccino, a stack of (bacon & toffee) coffee pancakes with bacon on the side; while my husband ordered plain buttermilk pancakes. My pancakes were melt in your mouth delicious. The sweetness from the pieces of toffee added a nice crunch to the coffee flavored pancakes & vanilla flavored syrup (which I used very little of). It sounds sweeter than it really is but you have to try it for yourself. Moving along, I have a tendency to always taste whatever my husband orders as well and when I tell you his plain buttermilk pancakes were out of this world--believe me; you'll never want another IHOP pancake again! Often when I watch the Food Network channel and see chefs closing their eyes like what they just made is the best thing ever, I roll my eyes in disbelief because they do it so often and everything seems to be that good to them, but when I closed my eyes to savor the buttery, smooth and tasty flavor of my husbands' pancakes he dressed I. "Grade A" syrup--he did the exact same thing to me--rolled his eyes like yeah right but they were just that good. So good you just want to close your eyes and savor the flavor. To make a long story short, if you're ever in Sarasota & you're looking for breakfast/brunch stop by Station 400 you won't regret it. Go. Eat. Savor.

When we arrived we were told that there would be a 15-20 minute wait (which we were okay with) however while sitting for about 10-15 minutes I noticed three empty tables that needed cleaning and there was no urgency for anyone to clean them. What's up with that? That was disappointing because we weren't the only family waiting. Thankfully, when we were seated our server was efficient and pleasant. I was also impressed by the fresh flowers on the table. I ordered the "Huevos Gringo" w/organic eggs & hash browns. I'm glad I did because it was delicious. My husband was disappointed with his "cheese" eggs because they just plopped a "slice" of cheese on top (typically cheese eggs has the cheese melted into the eggs). Although, he said yah the sausage was very good. I was not pleased with the texture of the plain pancakes (very doughy as I they weren't cooked thoroughly). I'm going to go back because not only do they have organic eggs but they have buckwheat pancakes, too. Sadly, they did not have turkey bacon or sausage. I just hope at some point I can find a breakfast restaurant with grass fed meat. Good place to stop in for breakfast but I honestly prefer Another Broken Egg (sorry, maybe my next visit will be better and I can update my review).

Over the top food, elegant environment, super friendly staff as usual. I just LOVE this place! (Fresh flowers on the table, bright and airy) I had tea, Nutella waffle and vegi soup, all amazing!!

Had brunch this morning and it did not disappoint. I had the truffle eggs benedict and wife had scambled eggs and salmon. Both were delicious. The service was exellent and our server Taylor did a great job. Will eat here again and would recommend it.

Wow, what a great lil place, best corned beef hash ever and really good coffee served with actual cream not bs chemical oil. Very friendly and attentive staff.

I have been going here for a long time. We always say before going "the food is good but the service..." A lot of time just the thought of how we will be treated upon sitting down makes us skip this one. Always go to the bar if you want the food in a timely manner, that way you aren't getting the roll of the dice. I have to say the food has been pretty consistently good, overall. What turns me off is the bathrooms. Some truck stop restrooms are better I often think to myself "this place used to care, they don't anymore" I shudder to think what the kitchen is like if the bathroom is that bad. Honestly if you can get over these 2 hurdles, dicey service and bad bathrooms (hold it until you get home) you're in like Flynn.

MMMM Delicious are the Nutella Waffles with Bananas. The light airy waffle is so good. Add some bacon and the meal is exactly the treat you need to start a wonderful day in paradise. The fruits are fresh, so add some fruits to your waffle or get a traditional breakfast meal. Lunch options are a variation on the norm. There are some healthy options for those veggie folks. Kid portions are also available. Plan on waiting for this restaurant is not that big. Outdoor dog friendly seating is available except the sun and heat are cruel. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy a waffle that is perfect for your taste buds to sing.

Our visit was average here the flavors of the two dishes we ordered were boring. I had high hopes of enjoying roasted tomatoes and my dish came out with 1 too many stewed tomatoes. They were bland and popped when pierce to squirt everywhere making it a true balancing act to eat these. The atmosphere was outta sync with the menu on this restaurant in my opinion. I think I'll stick to Tampa for my faves. Service was average.

So good! Ate at the bar for brunch. Dill Havarti grilled cheese was excellent!! Cost effective too.

Great breakfast spot in Lakewood Ranch. Great locomotive theme. Extremely busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait. Because it's so busy service isn't the most attentive, however that is not a reflection on the staff- they definitely try their best. I always have a hard time figuring out what I'd like since everything on the menu sounds amazing, however I suggest the Italian omelette!

I recently took my Dad here on a weekday, late morning, for brunch, as he was visiting from out of town. I've personally visited Station 400 several times before. The place was packed and there was a ten minute wait for seating. Unfortunately, they don't have a lot of space for people waiting to be seated, and I noticed some booths being taken up by one person--understandable when it's not busy, but at a time like that when they're slammed, I think they should reserve tables and booths for multiple people and require individuals to sit at the counter. The decor is pretty, but because all the surfaces are relatively hard, the restaurant is inordinately noisy. I noticed that this posed some difficulty for some of the customers who were waiting, as they could not hear their names being called when their tables were ready. Our server was perfectly adequate. Neither over-attentive nor under-attentive; perhaps a bit on the rushed side, but he was polite and courteous. The food was delicious, as it has been in the past. My father had an omelette with a side of cheese grits that he quite liked, and I had the stuffed French toast, which is absolutely delicious. Like most other reviewers, I would argue that the place is a tad pricy. I actually can't think of another local breakfast/brunch place around whose prices are higher, and there are many places, a few with equal quality food for a good $2-3 less per plate. In sum, Station 400 definitely has good food, but it will cost you. I personally save my trips there for when I have out of town guests or there's a special occasion (like a birthday, not something national!).

My favorite breakfast/brunch location in Sarasota. They will have different flavored mimosas depending on the season. Based on their menu they have different flavor varieties based in season for breads, waffles and pancakes. My absolutely favorite dish is the Truffle eggs Benedict!!!!!

    (5)
  • Ashley H.

Best breakfast place I have found in Sarasota. Truffled Eggs Benedict were to die for! The coffee pancakes with bacon toffee were also very good and the cheese grits were super creamy and yummy. The prices were reasonable and the service was great. Will definitely be back!

Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day, I actually think of myself as a breakfast expert. Moving on, the restaurant was in Lakewood Ranch and the location was great, very clean and seemed to be well staffed. We walked in and were seated, it was just my fiance, our 5 year old and me, the older son was playing football. After we were seated by the hostess we were passed by waitresses for about 30 minutes, no lie. The place was not busy at all. We actually had to ask the hostess who our waitress was. When we were finally served, the food was mediocre as well as over priced for breakfast. I had one cup of coffee, they never even offered refills, we were there for almost two hours due to bad service. This was one breakfast place we crossed off our list, not worth referring anyone to.

If we could give this place 6 stars we would. Every single thing on the menu is incredible! :. The pancakes are divine. :. The Eggs Benedict with truffles a knockout. :. Try the sparkling mimosas (We love the strawberry) :. Cheese Grits Fab!!! :. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG. The service is just as wonderful, and it's in the perfect location on Main St. in Lakewood Ranch. We are fortunate that we can walk there.

I took friends here as I had been at the location on Lemon & it was fabulous. Here we were seated at 12:15 and our server told us the "special" ( after we asked) but then added that it wasn't "done yet"! Also had no lemons as the "produce hadn't been delivered yet"! The eating area appeared clean but the bathroom was filthy. The hallway to the kitchen was dirty as well. Very overpriced & Food not good either.

Very clean restaurant with a very attentive and friendly staff. I enjoy coming here for brunch on Sunday's. They have amazing food and everything I have tried here has been amazing! My favorite is the Nutella waffles, but the pancakes are all amazing and so are the other bread easy options.

  • Rochelle C.

Horrid customer service from the hostess. She is in the wrong line of work if she is the first person people meet when coming to that location.

Don't skip this restaurant! Breakfast was awesome. French omelette was light (couldn't finish half before I was full). Fantastic has browns, and their wheat bread is my new obsession. It's sweet and fresh. Will be back!!!!

  • Val S.

Came for our usual Sunday brunch and I had the ricotta pancakes with blackberries and lemon curd. They were fantastic!!! Washed it down with my usual pomegranate mimosa. I don't think I've ever had something bad or bland here. I just wish they had turkey bacon or turkey sausage... It's all pork products. Other than that, no complaints.

  • Josh B.

Cute little place that has an eclectic menu. Service greeted us at the door and told us to sit anywhere we would like. Found a nice table and our server came over and got us coffee quickly. Offered suggestions which is always nice and the menu is fantastic. I had truffle eggs benedict which were amazing and my wife had banana pancakes which were even better than my dish. Would have had an easy 5 stars based on food and service alone, but I have to say there was a cleaning rag odor throughout the restaurant that was pretty strong. Almost like stale vinegar or something and it was not pleasant. Will update this after the next meal, to see if it is still present or a one time thing.

  • Brittany W.

Great place for breakfast and lunch! They put a creative spin on traditional brunch dishes. Some of my favorites include the truffle eggs Benedict, smoked salmon scramble and the lemon poached shrimp salad. I eat here at least once a week and I've never tried something I didn't like.

Original dishes Cleanliness was sub-par Noisy dining area Trying to be something that it's really not designed to be

    (3)
  • Dosia S.

This place has the most exciting menu. Half of it is filled with everyone's breakfast favorites with a unique spin; the other half filled with lunch favorites made to perfection. We came back here today for lunch after having breakfast here yesterday. Our waiter is so friendly and the service is great. The food is to die for. I am eating the corn chowder right now and I will be coming back for more soon. Nothing to complain about-I am so thrilled to have found this gem of a place!!

  • Carol B.

Decent place for breakfast the staff is friendly but the meals can be inconsistent. Some times the hash browns are really brown or greasy. The eggs are not always cooked to the doneness you request. The Benedict sauce can get pretty thick. I think I am picky because it's,pretty pricey. Clean place but not cozy. Gets really busy on weekends

    (3)
  • Allie M.

Their food is amazing. I usually always go for the special, you will not be disappointed. In the weekend be ready for a wait, but it's worth it. Lunch menu is also good.

Nice breakfast and lunch selections. Like the atmosphere and the outside seating is a plus. Always order breakfast from here and the burgers are delish

  • Jennifer S.

Food and service are excellent! Ordered many things on the menu over the years and I am never disappointed. My favorite is the eggs benedict or the cobb salad with chicken salad.

  • Mel P.

Had breakfast here after returning home from a trip to Annapolis. We had terrific food here in the past but this place has gone downhill. Expensive and not worth it. Omelette was runny on the inside and I had to send it back. Upon return it was the blandest tasting meal I have ever had. The service was slow too. I won't be back anytime soon.

  • Lisa S.

I love this place! I have the truffle eggs Benedict every time I come and it is delicious every time. It is about $10, and the portion is good for me, but I always want more because it is perfectly done! The train decor is cute, and I like the copper finishes. They have fancy mimosas for 7.50 each. I anticipate coming here many more times, and I would even take my family there for celebrations.

Truffled eggs Benedict was amazing. Great service, friendly staff and clean restaurant. I do not hesitate in recommending this restaurant. Will definitely come again when in the area

This is my favorite breakfast/lunch place. The place is really cute and the servers are nice and friendly. My favorite item is the balsamic chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. The pancakes are also amazing. My favorite are the coconut custard pancakes. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

I love this place. We go to Sation 400 every 3-4 days for what I would say is a great breakfast place. The lunch's menu is not large but it has something for anyone. we love the breafast here, the do a great job. All the wait staff is wonderful, pleasant and the food comes out fast, hot and tasty. It is clean and comfortable. The banana pancakes are wonderful. they have a great breafast & lunch menu for those that like less fat more fruit. Never had a bad meal nor a bad day at Station 400 great people.

Ate here twice. Both times I got the egg Benedict. It's really good but the price for it is a bit high for just eggs on an English muffin. I had a group of five and the service in the morning was a bit slow.

I visited on Father's Day, June 17 for breakfast, around 9AM. I was expecting a line, but we were seated right away. The service was efficient, and the decor has the same train station theme as the downtown location (of course). The food was excellent. I ate at the Lemon Ave. location just before it opened and the breakfast was not by any means pushing the culinary limits of the chef, but the American omelette (bacon, goat cheese, asparagus and chives) was perfect. The hash browns were crisp and simple but great, and I ordered an english muffin instead of toast. I was a little miffed when I found out later that the nooks and crannies were an extra 50 cents, but aside from that it was just what I wanted. I also tried the multigrain pancakes, although it should be noted that the pancakes and the omelette were meals unto themselves. The short stack was also excellent, with the slight crispness of the griddle and sweet cream butter. Nothin' too fancy, just good. Special note needs to be made of the coffee. It was EXCELLENT. First Watch, are you listening? This coffee was roughly equivalent to Starbucks' medium roast, and this is the first breakfast place where I actually liked the coffee. Given the quality of the food and prices vs. The Broken Egg and First Watch, this is definitely a new favorite in the Lakewood Ranch area. I'll try to update if I have lunch and have a different experience, but I loved it this time! (With apologies to those who didn't.) I think there is outdoor seating now...Also what looked like a private room in the back for gatherings. 6/8/15 update- this place has become my go-to breakfast joint. This location is definitely better than the original downtown location. Added a star for being my favorite.

I came here with a friend for a late breakfast. We were promptly seated and our server constantly came over to check on us. I ordered the eggs benedict. It was very good. Sometimes, eggs benedict can be very heavy, but this tasted very fresh and relatively light. The decor is very simple and clean. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

My main concern when trying this place out (finally) was the reviews complaining about the service. It turned out to be completely fine. Also, the food was ah-mazing. I had the fried green tomato BLT which was to die for. Definitely will be coming back to try more of their interesting menu.

Two word summary: This place sucks. Ate here twice, buckwheat and blueberry pancakes-Yuk for both, Buckwheats tasted like Salt and bisquit. Blueberry pancakes were supposed to have blueberry syrup. This was represented by regular syrup with a thin layer of blueberry syrup on top of regular syrup. How chincy can you get? needless to say this is my last trip to Station 400. Rich

Really love the balsamic chicken sandwich! Very fresh! Perfectly filling! Second time there!

I have enjoyed breakfast/lunch at this Station 400 location twice now and have enjoyed my meal both times! This restaurant is located in the "Main Street" Lakewood Ranch area which is an area I love to dine at and walk around. My first time dining here was with a bunch of co-workers, and I went with the french omelette which contained melted brie, caramelized onions and "fines herbes". I had cheesy grits on the side, and all was right in my world at that moment in time. The second time I dined here was not that long ago, and we went for a late brunch/lunch. I was excited to see that there was a bloody mary on the menu, as I am not a huge fan of mimosas. Unfortunately, this is one area Station 400 fails, in my opinion. I consider myself to be a bloody mary aficionado, and there was no amount of hot sauce I could pour into my beloved drink to fix what was wrong. It had a very smoky flavor to it and was not spicy at all. I just could not get into it, which saddened me greatly. One of my girlfriends ordered one of the flavored mimosas, and she absolutely loved it. Next time, I think I'll just order champagne. Can't go wrong with that! To accompany my disappointing bloody mary, I opted to go with a lunch menu item and ordered the station burger which had a fried egg on top, mmmm. It was SO delicious, I highly recommend it. Everyone at my table inhaled their meals and had nothing but good things to say. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, and when she brought us our bills she noticed that my bloody mary was still pretty much full. She insisted on taking it off my bill even though I told her that was not necessary. I was impressed by this gesture, as I never complained to her, but she could tell I was not a fan. That or, maybe she's used to patrons not fawning over the Station 400 bloody mary and takes it off bills often. This is a great little place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, just be weary of ordering the bloody mary!

The omlettes here are eclectic and delicious. I've also tried the strawberry lavender pancakes and they are a nice combo. Sitting out side is your best bet because it can get a little loud on the inside. Great decor and the waiters are very prompt.

  • Leanne D.

Great place for brunch! The setting is really cute and the restaurant itself is clean. The pancakes are light and tasty,, but make sure you get a combo with eggs. The Spanish omelet is my favorite. Whatever you order make sure you get a side of the sweet potato fries!

I don't know why not many people have reviewed station 400 .. Probably cause we are all lazy. This place is my favorite local breakfast joint. The quality is superb. It's basically a gourmet breakfast place that is affordable. Their lunch is awesome too. For break fast the truffle eggs Benedict is awesome so is the corque Madame. For lunch their burgers are awesome. You won't regret going here its awesome!!

  • Brooke C.

Quality food, consistent every time. I have eaten breakfast here over 20 times and it continues to be outstanding. Their bacon omelet and the benedict are my favorites. Super fresh food, and great management. My only complaint would be about the servers; they tend to be a bit unprofessional, inattentive, lack on the coffee refills.

  • Lydia L.

The wait is usually shorter here than the one downtown, the food is just as good! The Station 400 Burger with egg is the best hungover food! And they just started serving high end pastry... YUM!!!

Best breakfast place in LWR by FAR. Service can be a little slow at times. However, I've never had a bad meal. Fresh ingredients and consistent quality.

Apparently my friends are always slightly nervous when they are the ones picking the restaurant we are meeting at. It made me laugh to hear that, but I guess I can see why since you never really know what I'll think of a place. Luckily for this particular couple that Gabriel and I were meeting up with for lunch, they pretty much always pick winners. Station 400 is a couple of miles from where we live and we'd been meaning to try it. We met up for lunch and I was immediately impressed with the cute, train-themed atmosphere, complete with a model train periodically circling the ceiling in full view. The menu was full of great sounding choices and I knew it would be a tough decision being that brunch is my favorite meal of the day (unless you include dessert as a meal). It seems a shame when a restaurant only offers breakfast and brunch and overlooks the more lucrative meal of the day by closing before dinner time, but I suppose they know what works for them. Before I even ordered, I'd already assumed everything would be great and was thinking about what I'd pick the next time we came in. It was 1pm on a Sunday, and we'd woken up fairly early, had breakfast, and taken a yoga class, so by the time 1:00 rolled around, I was ready for lunch type foods. I was tempted by the truffle eggs benedict, the blueberry stuffed, almond crusted, croissant french toast (WOAH) and the salmon caesar salad, but wanting to stay on the healthy side, I ultimately ended up choosing the portobello sandwich (YUM) with a side of cucumber/tomato olive salad. Gabriel had the open faced roast beef sandwich with blue cheese, caramelized onions, horseradish and parmesan fries on the side and my mouth watered as I convinced him to share both meals. Both were excellent with fresh ingredients, perfectly paired ingredients and manageable portions. Our friend's dishes also looked awesome, and I had to sample Rachel's amazing sweet potato fries. Neil's fried green tomato BLT also looked amazing and I made a note to myself to order that one on another occasion. The incredible looking homemade muffins (with flavors like maple/bacon, strawberry/lavender and peach/ginger), cake and pastries looked too lovely to ignore and we decided to share a cinnamon roll to finish off the meal with something sweet and special. The icing on top was a rich, cream cheese based gooey treat, and the bun itself was crisp, cinnamony and clearly fresh-baked. Just like the entrees, this was wonderful and left us wanting more- even though we were totally full. Clearly, we'd have to return frequently to try all of the tempting plates they offered. Good thing they are close and super reasonably priced with almost everything under $10. We will absolutely and positively be back soon.

This is a very fine breakfast sot, and there are very few around. Oatmeal with berry compote exceptional. Strawberry-lavender jam a real surprise. Order the almost-organic eggs as there is a difference.

Let me start by saying I love eating local. I give every restaurant more than one shot just in case of a bad experience. Visit number 2 was worst than the first BY FAR. Our office orders out every day. Last time we ordered (pick up) it too me 30 minutes to get someone to answer the phone to PLACE the order, this time, 17 calls and 45 min later, someone answered. I expected them to be jammed packed since none of the staff could seem to have time to answer the phone. Not quite. Not even full. I expressed my frustration to the hostess who didn't seem to care at all. My order? Salmon salad for $13. The salmon, no joke, was about as thick as 5 $1 bill stacked and as big as 1/2 a dollar bill. Dressing? Wrong. They did not give me what I ordered but some gross mustard. This is disappointing. You can go to fresh market and get a salad (less expensive) that is DOUBLE in size, and those guys will 100% of the time get your order right. Poor staff, poor service, poor quality all around.

Great place for breakfast & brunch! Family friendly atmosphere and casual as well. They have a small train traveling around the ceiling and they have outdoor seating. I took my grandfather who was visiting me. I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice, it was delicious, and a fairly large glass came as well. I ordered the stuffed French toast which was amazingly tasty! I really enjoyed all the unique twists to the menu like lavender butter and flavored apple cider syrup and cranberry butter. Grandpa ordered a regular short stack of pancakes and he said he could tell they were from scratch and were delicious. The food and service was great! My only complaint was it was a little pricey but well worth it for quality, unique ingredients. Plus, you can stop for coffee at Starbucks right next door.

Food was great! Service sucks. Went for lunch at 11. They were not busy at all but server kept disappearing. Waited forever for drink refills and the check.

This meal was a big disappointment for our whole table. Our group of 4 came here on a recommendation from a friend and I will speak for myself and say again...a big disappointment! The menu looks great and the little details in the decoration of the restaurant make you want to fall in love....but the food ruins the experience. The orzo pasta salad is so drenched in sauce that it is uneatable. I got the burger and the beef patty looked and tasted like it came frozen in a box. If it didn't come frozen in a box then this place has an even bigger problem. The parm fries were half burnt and half eatable. My friends's salad, omelets, and pancakes were all just OK. They all said they would not return. My recommendation is to spend your $$ elsewhere. The food here is subpar.

We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated and no one ever showed up, despite several of the waitresses/hostess glancing in our direction multiple times. We finally sat ourselves. We were never served or given menus. I'm not sure if someone was just having an off day or what, but our group will not be returning to this restaurant.

    (1)
  • Alice W.

Potatoes cold, coffee cool, toast was burnt!! Omelette was very good. Will not return because of the cold food & coffee. Plus who would serve burnt toast? They only give you one slice of bread with their eggs. No thanks!
